Todd B. Smith, MD

Dr. Smith is a Board Certified Orthopedic Surgeon who has completed a subspecialty fellowship in orthopedic sports medicine at the UHZ Sports Medicine Institute in Miami. Dr. Smith worked with professional athletes from the NFL, MLB, NHL, PGA, and the European soccer leagues. In addition, he was a team physician for the University of Miami and Florida International University while in Miami. Dr. Smith completed his residency in orthopedic surgery at the University of Wisconsin Hospitals and Clinics in Madison after graduating from Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas.
Dr. Smith came to ThedaCare Orthopedics Plus from the University of Kansas where he was a consulting team physician for the athletic program and an adjunct professor in the Department of Health, Sport and Exercise Science. He is currently a team physician who helps to cover athletic events for 10 area high schools.
He has a special interest in the disorders of the shoulder, elbow, knee, and ankle. Dr. Smith has extensive training in minimally invasive arthroscopic surgery. “I believe in treating my patients as partners or teammates. Without a strong team-based approach, its much more difficult for the patient to succeed. By working together, we can achieve the best possible results.” says Dr. Smith.
Outside of work, Dr. Smith enjoys spending time with his family and staying active whether its biking, distance running, basketball, hiking, or snow skiing.
